National STEM Video Game Challenge Youth Celebration

You are invited to join the sponsors of the 2012 National STEM Video Game Challenge in honoring the next generation of game developers. Come meet an inspiring group of students from across the country as they showcase their winning entries, talk about their love of video games, and express why competitions like the STEM Challenge are so important. The event will feature a special appearance by Cristin Dorgelo, Assistant Director for Grand Challenges, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President, and a keynote from a VIP from the video game development world. National STEM Video Game Challenge Deadline Extended Until March 23, 2012

Inspired by the Educate to Innovate Campaign, President Obama’s initiative to promote a renewed focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, the National STEM Video Game Challenge is a multi-year competition whose goal is to motivate interest in STEM learning among America’s youth by tapping into students’ natural passion for playing and making video games. This Challenge is open to four categories of video game developers: Middle School Students, High School Students, College and Graduate Students and Educators. The cash prize for each Prize Stream is $10,000

ESAF Education Challenge Grant

Education Challenge Grant will award prizes to teachers based on demonstrated ability to utilize computer and video games to both strengthen education curricular offerings and create new learning experiences for students. Winning submissions will receive grants in the amounts of $15,000, $20,000, and $40,000 to implement their proposed projects. Deadline is April 6,2012.

The Cooney Center Fellows Program encourages research, innovation, and dissemination to promote children’s learning. Fellows participate in a wide range of projects and, in doing so, develop broad exposure to scholarship, policy, and practice in the field of digital media and learning.
